Sheds have been featured on two different BBC Essex Radio Shows recently; Dave Monk’s Drivetime Show on 14th February and BBC Essex Quest on Sunday 17th February.
The Dave Monk interview with Maldon Shedder Steve Troop was a very open and honest account of a man hit rocking bottom, before starting on the road to recovery and how attending a Men’s Shed contributed to that.
Also, Clive Emmett, CEO of CVS Uttlesford and partner in the Essex Shed Network, gave further information and insight about Shed projects over a phone interview.
The full interview can be listened to here starting at 2hrs and 8mins in
Following the launch of Harlow Shed and the attention it gained locally and on social media, BBC Essex Radio got in touch with ESN to ask if Harlow Shed could be part of Essex Quest- a treasure hunt show where presenters are directed to different locations by solving clues.
So it was that Harlow Shed became a part of the show on Sunday 17th February and founding Shedder Martin Wedgwood was there to meet the presenters along with Clive Emmett (again!). As well as giving the frantic Essex Quest team their next clue, Martin and Clive gave an interview about Harlow Shed and what Sheds are all about, if you’d like to hear this then click here, the Shed features from around 1hr 37mins.
After months of preparation and planning, the Harlow Men’s Shed is ready to launch! The container (which was transformed into a Shed at a location in Barnston) was carefully transported to Harlow by lorry, where a team carefully maneuvered it into position at its new site in Harlow Town Park.
The official launch will be held on Friday 8th February at 10am – 12.30pm
There will be a short opening ceremony followed by talks from Clive Emmett, CEO of Uttlesford CVS on the Essex Shed Network, plus an Essex Shedder will give their account of how their Shed has benefited them.
Refreshments will be available and the Essex Shed Network team will be on hand to answer questions or generally talk Shed with anyone and everyone!
Parking is available at Netteswell Cross Car Park (Map below) which is approx 5 minutes walk from the Shed- follow the signs saying ‘Harlow Shed’ from the car park.
