Following the below article about the Southminster Community day we are pleased to be able to show you the timelapse video from the day showing all the volunteers hard at work,
On Saturday 23rd July 2016, a team of volunteers from the local community took part in a garden clearance activity day at the Memorial Hall in Southminster.
Supported by Maldon and District CVS and the Essex Shed Network the Memorial Hall have been working for the past years to open a Men in Sheds project making use of a disused garage space at the back of their community venue. The space although small has potential to be a social hub for men who in return for the space can help to maintain the outside area with gardening activities for the benefit of the wider community.
The space has been overgrown for years and the work undertaken has begun to create an area for the Halls current users, as well as making the fire escape safer for anyone needing to use, it in case of an emergency.
Whether a Men in Sheds project is able to open at the Memorial Hall is still unknown but one thing that is clear from this weeks event is that there is a great willingness within the local community for a shed project! Watch this space.
